Cavan Islamic Cultural Society ascribes to the following principles & tenets.
1. Tawhid: The belief in the oneness of God (Allah) and the rejection of any form of polytheism or idolatry.
2. Prophethood: The belief in the prophethood of Muhammad as the final messenger of God, as well as the recognition of other prophets such as Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.
3. Quranic Authority: The belief in the divine origin and authority of the Quran as the final testament, revealed to Prophet Muhammad.
4. Five Pillars of Islam: The adherence to the five fundamental acts of worship, which include the declaration of faith (Shahada), prayer (Salah), fasting during Ramadan (Sawm), giving to charity (Zakat), and pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj) for those who are able.
5. Moral and Ethical Values: The promotion of virtues such as honesty, justice, compassion, humility, and respect for others, as well as the avoidance of vices such as lying, cheating, greed, and arrogance.
6. Social Justice: The emphasis on fairness, equality, and the eradication of social injustices, including poverty, discrimination, and oppression.
7. Family and Community: The importance of strong family ties, mutual support, and communal harmony, as well as the recognition of the rights and responsibilities of individuals within the family and society.
8. Education and Knowledge: The encouragement of seeking knowledge, both religious and secular, as a means of personal growth, intellectual development, and contributing positively to society.
9. Modesty and Humility: The promotion of modesty in behavior, dress, and interactions, as well as humility in recognizing one's own limitations and dependence on God.
10. Unity and Brotherhood: The fostering of unity and brotherhood among Muslims, as well as promoting interfaith dialogue and cooperation with people of other faiths.
