Population

Cavan, nestled in the heart of Ireland, traditionally known for its lush landscapes, serene lakes, and rich Gaelic heritage is also a home for a community of an Islamic faith. Muslim population in Cavan has grown steadily over the past few decades, largely due to migration, educational opportunities, and economic prospects. With the influx of refugees and the opening of the direct provision in 2023, the population of Muslims in Cavan is expected to be well over a thousand by 2024. Muslims are becoming a part of social fabric in Cavan and the most significant milestone of this integration is the establishment of a Cavan Mosque that serves as a place of worship and also as a hub for social integration, providing a platform for Muslims to engage with the wider community, foster a sense of belonging and promoting cohesion and harmony within wider society. Cavan Islamic Cultural Society recognises immense responsibility in catering services towards the growing population of Muslims in Cavan and seeks to establish a high standard for Cavan Mosque. CICS aims to inspire excellence through enriching life upon sacred sources of the Quran (Final Testament) and Sunnah (Prophetic Tradition).

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍۢ وَأُنثَىٰ وَجَعَلْنَـٰكُمْ شُعُوبًۭا وَقَبَآئِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوٓا۟

O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes so that you may ˹get to˺ know one another
